Latent Entry, Potential Stories
Artist Jesse F. Reed presents a project using video technology that explores the physical space of the Yale University Art Gallery. In Latent Entry, Potential Stories, Reed uses tracking shots to describe the galleries, suggesting new possibilities for the space.

“Exploring spaces and environments is the focus of my artistic investigations. I am fascinated with the opportunities and limitations that are inherent to an environment, and the idea of appropriating space in a temporal way.

Spending time with the Gallery’s collection and the physical location where it is displayed, I became focused on the closed doorways that sit between great works of art. Since Yale has historically been synonymous with secret spaces and passageways, I was interested in exploring the idea of the doorway and letting viewers use their imagination to discover where these passageways might lead. With brightly colored light spilling out, these doorways evoke curiosity and possibility as they swing open and close. These doorways resonate potential and ambiguity.” —Jesse F. Reed
